Thank you
Iran for helping the UK win the 1st and 2nd World
Wars
Below is a
picture of a relative of mine who was killed in WW1
We owe
thanks to him and other like him who gave their life’s so we could have
a better life.
But we must
also give thanks to all those who sacrificed to helped us win WW1 and
WW2 Not just those on the front line.
Just before
WWI British naval ships were converted to run on oil.
The British
exported oil from its refinery in Iran and sold it to its navy at a
discounted price.
Below is a
picture of the oil refinery in Iran pre World War 1.
This oil
from Iran played a major factor in helping the UK win the WW1.
The British
Empire was huge at this time and other places had oil . However in War
time there is no time to look around and find new sources of oil and it
was Iran, which was the Supplier of oil to the UK in WWI so it is to
them we owe a thank you for the sacrifice they made.
The Iranian people did not benefit from this oil export and the conditions and wages at the British owed oil refinery in Abadan, Iran (at the time it was the biggest oil refinery in the World) were terrible. Only the Shah of Iran received some commission that was supposed to be 16 % of the annual profit but as the oil was sold to the British navy at a discount and questionable accounting was used this did not amount to much.
The UK people need to remember this help that was given to them and to say thank you to Iran for giving this help particularly at the moment.
When a friend helps you though difficult times and then latter you turn around and put knife in their back then this describes the situation with the UK and Iran.
At the moment Iran is been made out to be an enemy of the UK but just a few years ago Iran was helping us in are hour of need.
After WWI the story still continues.
The UK exported oil from Iran to help us through the mid World War years and the petrol in many cars driven in the UK at this time was from Iran.
Again the Iranians people on the street got no help from this while the UK people drove around building up there economy in vehicles using Iranian petrol.
Then comes WWII
In WWII fuel played a major role in contributing to the outcome.
It is claimed Iran exported 25,000 b/d of jet grade fuel in WWII.
In North Africa the German General Rommel ran out of fuel and this is thought to be a major contributing factor to his defeat their.
In Europe the number of troops moving to the changing front line was so large that fuel was a critical factor in the battle outcomes.
With the help of Iranian oil in the WWII we could defeat the Nazis but this help has been ignored.
At the moment Iran has sanctions against it and is not allowed to sell its oil around the world but without the Iranian oil in the WWII the UK may have had 100’s of thousands more casualties and the war may have gone on a lot longer. We can only guess at what the outcome might have been. Probably we still would have won when the Americans came into the war but Britain would have taken a huge bashing before that without Iran Oil in UK military vehicles.
So why is the present UK and the USA governments so against Iran? .
Everyone in the UK and USA should know the history of their countries so that we can understand how we got into the present situation and then we can change the future.
I recommend reading “All the Shah’s Men” by Stephen Kinzer of which this article is a very short summary of this book with the additional “Thank you to are friend Iran for your Oil in the 2 World Wars.
In the late 1940’s the Labour Government in the UK nationalized many industries.
Then in the early 1950’s Iran nationalized its oil industry.
Churchill authorized ‘Operation Boot” to overthrow the Iranian Government and install a proxy Government but the Iranians found out about it and deported the British out from Iran.
The British gave all their intelligence about ‘Operation Boot” to the CIA who then conducted “Operation Ajax” which was an international crime of regime change which started off similar operations in Central and South America.
After Operation Ajax the foreign oil companies re entered Iran with the help of the brutal leadership of the Shah.
The Shah suppression became worse and worse as time went on. The only groups he could not suppress 100% was the religious groups and so it was the religious groups that overthrow the Shah in 1979.
Latter hostages were held at the American Embassy in Iran in the same place where Operation Ajax had been planned from because the Iranians feared another Operation Ajax from the same place.
The present bad feeling against Iran from the UK and USA governments originated from the nationalization of Iranian oil in 1951.
We need to apologize for Operation Boot and Operation Ajax as well as thanking Iran for selling us oil in the World Wars.
The loss of life in a war again Iran (with even a chance of starting World War III) needs to be averted by behaving like all humans should behave by thanking some one who helps you and any politician who is not prepared to say thank you to Iran needs to be removed, as they are not fit to rule.
We all need to know are history and we need a mass media that reminds us of are history good or bad and this is a serious problem we have at the moment in a mass media who are run by billionaires with there own agendas.
Only mass protests can solve this problem.
This mass media we have at the moment makes out Iranians to be are enemy when the average Iranian person on the street in Iran is very similar in many ways to the average British person on the street. Of course language, dress and religion are different but the human culture is the same.
A movie about British and German troops meeting on Christmas in WW1 is popular at the moment but at the time propaganda on both sides was so intense it is only now that we can see the German people as friends.
Yet another war in the Middle East (Maybe WWIII) will be too grim. We cannot wait a 100 years to look back and realize the Iranians are no different to us.
The ever increasing debt in the USA going up trillions of dollars a time is creating instability in the global economy and it is at these times of great instability that wars are often started so now is the time for friendship with Iran.
When you push a bear against the wall it fights back and the US, UK and France are pushing Iran against a sanctions wall to find a reason to attack them.
They cannot find a convincing reason at the moment so the US, UK and France may invent a reason for attacking Iran.
Discovering the true history of the problem with Iran is a way of averting an unnecessary war so the history of Operation Boot (that was planned but never happened) and Operation Ajax that was implemented need to by told to everyone in the UK, USA and France.
